The staircase, like the bathroom, can often be overlooked and forgotten. Don’t waste that space! It can be a tricky space because it’s not the easiest to decorate. You mostly have walls, maybe a small shelf space of sorts and a little floor space at the bottom to work with, but that’s okay!
We have found that a lot can be done in small spaces! There’s no need to limit yourself. Plus we can’t forget about the stairs themselves. We can use stair runners, wood or even tiles to decorate them giving us even more options.
Check out some of these staircases to find out what other people/designers are doing and to get some inspiration! Apply what you like to your home. Put up that gallery wall and use that space!
This week our Tuva-Luv comes from Catherine! One of her store favorites is the “sunrise on esther island” mermaid wall art piece! This piece shows scenes of mermaids in everyday life! Wonderful paintings of whimsically charming and demure mermaids in lovely seaside settings. They are numbered and signed in a black distressed wood frame with a glass front. The artist has a unique style and flair with her paintings that is reminiscent of her favorite place the island of Nantucket, located 30 miles out to sea off the coast of Cape Cod. Living on the coast can really do a number on your home. That means it’s a must that you invest in the right materials that can take on the coastal weather. If you don’t, things will fall apart and end of costing you a lot more in the long run. Invest in materials that are built to last. What materials might those be? Scroll down and take a look!
Metals will take on any weather and be left standing, ready for more. Metals, especially steel, will out last every other material you have in or around your house. It will probably still be there after we’re gone too. It’s built tough and built to last. Toss it up on you the roof and let it take the constant coastal weather beating or grab some metal furniture and accessories for the outdoors. Metal goods even work indoors as well and can give the space a nice rustic feel too!
2. Reclaimed Wood.
Reclaimed wood has already seen it’s fair share of weather. It’s proven that it can last so when you use this material in your home you can rest assured that it’s not going to be changing too much. Since it is reclaimed it’s going to be a bit on the pricier side, but the extra money is worth the look and the reassurance of knowing you have a lasting material.
3. Natural Stone Tile.
Tile was created to make our lives easier, give our homes a fantastic look and to last forever. The only way you’re getting rid of your tile is if you tear it out with your own hands. Tile can take a beating from us humans and from any weather Mother Nature can throw at it. If it gets a little wet no problem! A quick mop up or a sunny day and the water’s gone. Plus tile keeps the house cool and we love that during the summer which is okay with us!
