:: Create A Beach Ready Entryway ::

Tuesday Tips

Cute summer inspired coastal entrywayWhen summer is in full swing we have one destination in mind, the beach! The beach is the ultimate summer spot, so why not make your entry way beach ready? You can do this with a couple key accessories and pieces! You need a minimum of three essential pieces in the entry way. You can use more, but we all know less is more so keep it simple!

The first thing you need is a place to sit. This can be a chair, a small bench or even a stool. You just need something where you can kick off those sandals and dust off the sand covered toes. No more tracking sand throughout the house. If your seat is something light and easy to move you can easily reach in a grab it and clean outside the front door.

The second thing you will need is a place to set your stuff down. A side table or even a wide ottoman can get the job done. Create a place you can easy unload after a beach day. This way you can drop it and forget it for the time being. Another option is to use a wicker style basket so you can place your beach towels or blankets in it so it can easily be transported to the laundry room.

The third and final piece to the beach ready entryway is a place to hang stuff. We’re talking an entry way shelf, a coast rack or at the very least a couple mounted hooks. This is a great place to hang the towels, your sun hat or your beach tote. Basically it’s another place to quickly unload form the beach.

Those are the three essential pieces that make the perfect summer entryway! It’s all about creating a space that helps you quickly and easily unload after a glorious day at the beach. Hopefully this helps you this summer and lets you enjoy those beach days more!

Beach coastal mixing blues and natural woodsWe all know blue and white compliment each other extremely well. There’s no questioning that color combination when it comes to decor. However, one other color, more of a material, accents blue hues just as well and that’s wood.

Wood is a great material to pair with the color blue. You can decorate with light or dark wood and find a blue hue that matches flawlessly. Pair a strong navy blue with a deep walnut to bring out the rich hues of each color. If you’re decorating with a lighter palette you can compliment a light blue with an ash or white oak.

Tuesday Tips

Bright coastal living room decorated with a large area rug and natural wood furnishingsScale is one of the most important factors when it comes to design. It can set the tone for the entire space. It can make a room feel full, empty, right and wrong. When you’re designing a space you need to keep everything to the scale of the room. When you start buying without considering scale you’ll be in for a big surprise when it comes to the install.

Without knowing measurements of the space, furniture and accessories they potentially won’t fit which can cause a headache or two. You want to know what will fit in the space before you head off hunting for it. Knowing the measurements of your space will also allow you to use it to its full potential as well as show you were you can take design risks with scale. So do your homework, know your space and pick pieces that will not only look great in your space, but will actually fit!
