It’s the season of the kitchen and we’re spending a good chunk of time in our beloved space. When we’re whirling around conducting a spiced filled symphony in our kitchens, we want to make sure all is in harmony and on cue. There’s no need to make your life more difficult, that’s why we’ve come up with these 3 quick tips to get your kitchen ready for the holidays. Get those aprons ready, heat up those ovens and get ready for the holiday season!
1. Cut The Clutter
If it doesn’t need to be in the kitchen get rid of it. Seriously, the last thing we need is to be tripping over things or frantically searching for counter space. The holidays are stressful enough, the last thing we need to add to it is mess and clutter.
2. Check The Kitchen Tools
Is everything good to go? Are those whisks still, well, whisky? Make sure the wine is ready while you’re at it. Do those pots and pans have another season in them? Are those mixers still mixing? Check and make sure everything you need is actually going to work. We don’t want a meltdown while that souffle is melting down.
3. Carry A Stockpile
We’re not saying you need all Costco this holiday season, but you definitely want to make sure you have plenty of goods. Running out mid-meal to grab ingredients is completely avoidable these holidays. Also the holidays are always faster and demand more time for everything. That being said, make sure you have some quick, healthy and easy meals ready to go.
Got all that ladies and gentlemen? There’s no reason these holidays shouldn’t go smooth and be successful. Tuvalu wants to help you guys out, but much more importantly, we want you guys to enjoy yourselves over the holidays. Happy cooking!

Because a bar just isn’t complete without a bar stool. It’s like the classic PB&J. It doesn’t happen without the J. We can’t live in a world without complete and happy endings – it just isn’t right. Basically that’s why bar stools were invented. Okay, we can’t confirm that, but it’s the story we’re going with and we’re sticking to it.
Bar stools offer a lot to the look of a well designed kitchen and they actually serve a purpose. They give you place to plant your butt while you use that bar you had to have built into your kitchen island.
Another great advantage of the good ol’ bar stool is its ability to easily change the style or look of the kitchen. No remodeling or expensive projects involved, simply pick out your new stools and take out the old ones. Done and done.
Get inspired to bring new ideas into your kitchen with these lovely pictures featuring some beautifully designed and decorated kitchens complete with bar stools as well as plenty of envious design details.

Using color to accent walls and spaces is a great technique that anyone can use throughout their home. Step one is deciding what color you want to accent or highlight the space with. When you’re picking out the color there’s one main thing you need to consider, what do you want your accent color to accomplish? Do you want it to be bright? Do you want it compliment the color palette in a subtle way? Maybe you want something that does both? If you’re having a hard time deciding how to use color to accent, these 3 ways to accent your home with color will help. Each of the 3 ways to accent your home with color gives you design ideas and decor options to help you accent with color.
1. Accent A Wall
The easiest, and most effective way, to accent with color in your home is by painting a wall. It’s one wall with one color and you’re done. Painting can be a hassle, but thankfully it’s only one wall and not the entire room. This wall can be painted in a bright color to stand out or it can be used to add color while complimenting the space (pictured above).
2. Accent A Specific Section
If you want to get creative with color, try accenting a specific section of the space. For example, in the kitchen you can paint the island a different color to create an accent piece in the kitchen space (pictured above). Another way this has been done is by painting the inside of shelves. If it’s a built in shelf, for example, the inside area of the shelf can be painted a different color to create a more interesting accent style.
3. Accent With Accessories
The third way to accent with color does not involve painting. If you’re not handy with a brush, this is the option for you. Accent the space by decorating with accessories (pictured above). This is usually done by decorating on a neutral color palette in order for the accessory colors to pop. Hunting the pieces down can be a task, but it is all part of the fun that we call decorating. Also, don’t forget how easy the internet has made shopping for specific color palettes. Each item adds a fun pop of color that allows you to use colors to accent the space to your heart’s desire.
