Decorating with skirted furniture is a great way to add style and charm to a space. They can cover up unwanted furniture legs or add volume to a piece to give it more weight. They also add instant coastal cottage feels which can make the space feel more cozy and welcoming. Using skirted furniture also bring a sense of continuity to the space. It brings the decor together while also giving you the option to break up the space by pairing furniture that is skirted with furniture that is not skirted. Say you have a separate nook you want to be it’s own space, using chairs that are not skirted can set it apart. Check out some of these beautiful, coastal spaces that have taken advantage of skirted furniture! Get inspired and a get a feel for cozy, skirted furniture!
We spotted the Noir Bullseye Ottomon! This ottoman has a very unique bulls eye design that is outlined with nail heads that evokes a symmetry to which ever room it is placed in. Multiple nail heads run down the sides to make sure the burlap stays tight and secure. Check it out on our online store here!
We spotted the Akron Round Counter Stool in the latest Country Living! We found the Akron Stool nestled perfectly under a kitchen island begging for us to come sit down. This stool is a great addition to the kitchen that’s made with reclaimed wood and has an iron frame. The wood, metal materials create a combination that offers great texture to the kitchen space. The stools also compliment an island (pictured nicely above) or a bar perfectly as well. Interested in picking up some bar stools for your kitchen? The Chippendale Chair is one of the most popular chairs in coastal decor. It embodies the coastal style in an effortless way. Its history, however, is not rooted in coastal design though. An 18th century English cabinetmaker, Thomas Chippendale, is responsible for the creation of Chippendale furniture and for the name of the it as well. Thomas Chippendale created many pieces and styles of furniture, chairs were not his only contribution to furniture design. The Chippendale style also includes tables, cabinets, desks and bed frames. There are also sub-styles of the Chippendale style furniture that include Rocco, Gothic and Chinese.
The Chinese style of the Chippendale furniture is the one typically incorporated into modern day coastal decor, especially the Chippendale chairs. These chairs are often seen in coastal homes and are popular due to their design. Today’s chairs often resemble the original styles, but are made out of faux bamboo or plastics. The chair is known for its fret work on the back and legs. The fret work on the back of the chairs look like a bamboo lattice.
These chairs also come in a large variety of styles and colors which makes designing with them easy. You have probably seen the chair while searching through coastal decor pins on Pinterest and now you can put the proper name to them. We’ve also added a few examples of what Chippendale Chairs look like and how to use them in a coastal style home.
If you want to incorporate Chippendale Chairs into your home, you can shop for them on our online store here!
Wicker furniture is no longer banished to the patio and the backyard. This light-weight, woven furniture has made it’s way inside and into living rooms as well as bedrooms. Choosing to use wicker based furniture inside brings many new fun and exciting design elements to a space. It adds color and texture with it’s natural woven material design (or at least the look of it if it’s made with a synthetic material). You’re also only limited to the amount of wicker you can fit into a space. The versatile material has been used to create everything you could ever want or need for a living space. We’ve gathered a few pictures of designers using wicker furniture that we love. We grabbed a few indoor examples, but dropped a few outdoor set ups to show the potential you could bring inside. Check it out, be inspired and create beautiful spaces!
