Tuesday’s Tip From The Pros

bamboo-bed-frame-coastal-bedroom-tuvaluThe bed is the most important part of your bedroom. Simply because it’s the main focus of the space and more importantly that’s where you fall asleep every night. When you’re looking for a bed, you are searching the perfect match. From the bed frame to the actual mattress it all weighs in on your decision. First things first, you need to decided what size you want your bed to be or what size it can be. At the moment you may be in your cute apartment and a cal king just won’t quite fit in the room. So you need to adjust and pick what fits in the room. Maybe your home’s master bedroom is twice the size of the rest of the home and with all that amazing space you can fit that cal king. In this case ladies, size does matter. We need a bed that’s going to fit the space perfectly. Don’t worry if your home at the moment is a temporary stop. You will get your space one day and that queen bed with fit in your new bedroom perfectly!
woven-bed-frame-coastal-bedroom-home-decor-tuvalucoastal-bedroom-home-decor-fish-tuvaluAfter you’ve decided the size of your bed you need to figure out what’s going to hold it up. Bed frame? Ropes from the ceiling? Or is it just going to lay on the floor? Many design choices and styles will be made and factored in at this stage. Do you want your decor to compliment your bed frame or do you want your bed to stand out on its own? Do you want a large bamboo bed frame? Do you want a simple, metal bed frame? Do you even want a bed frame? With so many choices out there you can literally dream up anything. We like to make the space as cohesive as possible and make sure the room flows. If we’re going with a rustic bed frame and using some old barn doors as headboards then we’re going to work the rest of the space around that. We’ll bring in some coastal, rustic pieces to bring the room together. If we have high ceilings to work with ,we’re going to want to play with some of the vertical space that’s been given to us and choose a beautiful canopy bed frame while shooting for the tropical, vacation look. The design choices are endless and up to your space, personality and style.
Rustic style bedroomcanpoy-tropical-coastal-bedroom-home-decor-tuvaluYou’ve got your bed picked out and you’ve finally decided on your bed frame and headboard. Now what? Bedding! One more way you get to bring some fun design elements to your coastal bedroom. Colors, prints, patterns, pillows, sheets, throws, and whatever else you want to put on top of your bed! The best part about your bedding is you can use it to further the space’s cohesiveness with textures, patterns and colors. You can bring it all together and make the bedroom feel complete. Go bold with patterns and textures to give the room fun and playful vibes and draw even more attention to your bed because it is the main focus of the space. Not into bold? Go with muted colors and light fabrics to have a more relaxed and easy going feel to the space. Are you a pillow queen? Because we support that your majesty! If you love your pillows it just adds another design element you get to design your heart with. Hate ripping pillows on and putting them back every day? Then keep it simple with a just a few. Your bedding choices can really influence the space, so make sure you don’t take it lightly!

Tuesday’s Tips From The Pros

Wood headboard in a eclectic bedroom Headboards are one of our favorite things in the bedroom. They can be big or small or technically not their at all. It’s all up to you and your style! With so many options out there you are literally free to do whatever you want. You can go with a traditional headboard that’s usually small to medium basic piece that is connected to the bed frame. This guy will help keep the pillows on your bed and the linens in place. Or you can get a multipurpose headboard that has selves and drawers built in.

There’s really no reason you won’t be able to find the headboard you want. You can get a wood headboard, an upholstered headboard, or a possible a steel/iron cast headboard. If you dream it up, it can be made. Plus plenty of things can be made into a makeshift headboard, like barn doors, old wood shutters and even mirrors. The beauty of the headboard is that it doesn’t have to be strictly functional. It can be for design purposes only.

They can be large and dominate the space so that your eyes are immediately drawn to it or they can be small and barely noticeable. It’s a design element that can bring life back into a dull room or it can be just another piece of furniture. It’s really all up your imagination and what you want the piece to bring to your bedroom. There are no limitations to the headboard or real guidelines as to how it’s suppose to be. There’s really only one rule that makes sense; it should be at the head of your bed. Then again, who are we to tell you how to design your bedroom?

Tuesday’s Tips From The Pros

Today we’re looking at some beautiful bedrooms. The bedroom is arguably one of the best rooms in the house. We love the kitchen, mostly the food, and of course our family room, but the bedroom will always be at the top. We want to inspire you today with bedrooms we like and design aspects of the bedroom we like. We’re just going to get you warmed up for next week when we show you how to redo your bedroom Tuvalu style. So hopefully you’re still in your bed and getting cozy because we wish we were!

We are envious of this space. It makes us think of driftwood or being out at sea. The tall ceilings with the rustic wood posts shaping the headboard is stunning. Not only is the headboard lined with thick wood posts, but the ceiling is too! What a great and unique idea instead of the typical crown moulding. The side table/nightstand and the wood bench in front of the bed also make great accent pieces without pushing the rustic, wood feel over the top. This is Tuvalu love.

This bedroom feels so light and airy. It’s inviting and looks relaxing. It makes you want to run and jump into the bed and forget about your worries. We also enjoy the symmetry of the room with the night stands and the lamps really bringing that aspect to the room. The rug underneath the bed leading out to the chest is a great way to add a little extra detail to the room. We like that the rug compliments the room and doesn’t stand out or clash what-so-ever. Be careful when choosing a rug that will go underneath your bed. A few things to keep in mind is the amount of space you have, your color scheme and of course quality.

We love anything that hangs, especially beds. These beds are beautiful hanging beds. From the ropes to the pillows, we love it! We like the vertical stripes on the walls as well. It gives the room an even bigger, taller feeling with the already tall feeling that the hanging ropes gave.

This room is all about the color scheme – blue and white. There’s almost too much blue and white in this bedroom, but did you notice the little touches of red in the pillows and the bedding? When you’re trying to stick to a color scheme you want to make sure you don’t go over board. It’s really easy to go over board and when you realize it, it’s usually too late. Keep your color scheme in mind when you’re putting together your bedroom, but don’t forget to bring in another color that will compliment your scheme. That’s not to say that you can’t do a color scheme without going over board. It’s possible, just harder to do.

When it comes to coastal design we all think of beach cottages filled with whites, blues and neutrals; but not all of us have that taste. This room has more pop and brings an eclectic look to the room while still infusing coastal design elements. It brings together bright prints and patterns with accessories to match. Every style is up to your interpretation and that’s how design grows and evolves. Feel free to break the rules and let your true creativity come out.

Tuesday’s Tip From the Pros

Looking for something to make your basic bedroom a little more unique? Using large-scale, reclaimed architectural pieces as a headboard can make a bold and original statement in your bedroom. We’re loving how these rather plain rooms become spectacular with the addition of just a single item. Try a pair of antique barn doors or mirrored windows and rustic shutters with pops of bright color in their original paint.

Lucky for you, we’re bringing in some incredible pieces to Tuvalu over the next few weeks that would work wonderfully behind your bed – or in any room for that matter. Come on by and check them out!
