Coastal galler wall with sea animal inspired artA gallery wall is a great way to display art and take full advantage of the walls in your home. There’s no need for your walls to stay bare and look plain. Creating a gallery wall is an easy way to solve that problem. If you follow these 3 steps to create your gallery wall, you’ll have your walls covered and looking good in no time!

1. Pick Out Your Art
First, and foremost, you need to pick out the art you wish to display. Pick out fun and creative pieces that make up a unique gallery wall. You can decide if your gallery wall is made up completely of art prints or if you want to incorporate other pieces of art or objects. Display pieces that reflect your style and create a gallery wall that is special to you.

2. Lay It Out
Before you start mounting your art, lay it out on the ground. Get an idea of what works and looks good before you start putting holes in your wall. Seriously, lay it out on the ground. The last thing you want to do is decide halfway through installing the art that you’ve changed your mind or you find out that certain pieces don’t fit well together. Don’t find yourself stuck covering up holes! The best part about a gallery wall layout is there’s no ‘right way’ to do it. The way it looks is entirely up to you! Get creative with the wall space and your art!

3. Put It Up
The last step after you finalize your layout on the ground (yes, we are going to stress that again) is to mount each piece of your gallery wall. This is the step that is going to take the longest and some patience. Get yourself a stud finder, a leveler, some nails and a hammer. You may also want to look into drywall screws and drywall anchors too. Gallery walls don’t always line up perfectly with studs and you should always mount things properly. Once you have the right tools and hardware, pick a piece and start mounting your gallery wall! Then step back and enjoy your new gallery wall.

Tuesday Tips

A good way to get your style across is to go out and say it. It’s fun to pick words that compliment the design and look great in the home. You can even style them in a couple different ways. Mount them up on the wall or display them on their own. Get creative with the letter styles and words that you come up with. Make them ocean themed or even customize them to your family. The possibilities are endless!

Creative way to show off art. Create a shelf and place the frame on it.We think that no wall should be left behind! No wall shall go bare while there is art out in the world to hang on it! That’s why you should go big with your art. Cover as much of that wall as you can. There are many ways to do this: get one large piece to cover the wall, create a gallery wall, or get creative with how you display it (like the picture shown above). The bottom line is you get to cover your walls and you get to show off some great art. It’s truly a win-win, especially for those home owners that are fortunate enough to have large spaces. Use large art or gallery walls to fill the space. Using art to cover the walls can give the room a fuller, richer feel when you enter it. Take a look at what these designers have done with these spaces and how they’ve used art to not only cover the walls, but pull the room together.

Coastal stairs taking advantage of the wall space with some coastal wall artAre you ready for stairs that you can excited about? How about stairs that won’t be over looked? What about a set of stairs that will get you excited to take those steps up to your comfy bedroom?

The stairway can easily be over looked and forgotten, but with a little love and attention it can become an eye catching space. It’s a canvas ready for you to pick up the design brush and paint the space with your personal style. The stairs offer a lot more design space and many more options than meet the eye. The space gives you the walls that the stairs follow up, the space before the stairs, the banisters and the stairs to create a stairway that you can be excited about.

When people come into your home for the first time they won’t only be greeted by your beautiful entryway, but they’ll also give your stairway some much deserved attention as well. Hit the walls with coastal wall art and create a beautiful gallery wall to fill what would otherwise be empty space. The art fills the blank walls and utilizes what most would see as unable space. Try adding a mirror to open up the stairs. It allows more light and gives the person looking into the mirror a sense of open space.

Looking to add a little more nautical flare? How about ditching those traditional banisters and swapping them out for a rope banister? Is that nautical enough for you? Rope banisters are the ultimate coastal addition and instantly invoke the feeling of being aboard a boat. Don’t forget about the stairs themselves. They too can be used to as a design detail in the space. The stairs can be painted or covered with a stair runner. Stair runners offer a great range of color and texture options for your stairway. It allows you to mix up the materials that can be on your stairs as well.

Lastly, you cannot forget about the space before the stairs. It sets up the stairway and acts almost as an appetizer to the main course that will be the stairs. You can help it set the design tone and style for the rest of the stairway. It can compliment the art or the frames while still offering a great look as well. So what are you waiting for? Your stairs are ready to become a standout part of your home! Take a look at these great stairway pictures we’ve gathered and don’t forget to get out there to see what other designers are doing!
